Robot runs out of water during mop cleaning

During mopping the robot runs out of water and doesn't go back to fill up when it's out of water.  The dirty water tank is empty and clean water tank is full. this is for only one room. It runs out of water in the middle and proceeds to mop the floors without any water.  So I have to stand there and make it return to the base and clean itself 3 times.  Is there no sensor when the robot runs out of water? What is going on?
