New - Carpet detection

I just bought my first mop Robot.  I did the mapping and it completely ignored my door mats and living room area carpet.  How do you get the map to find them so they won't be mopped?

Also when it mopped my kitchen it left a coffee spill behind after two mopping runs.  

Is there anything I can change to make it perform better?

Take it back & buy a Shark. The app is extremely user friendly & robot does a great job. I think I will be returning this one.

How do I increase the speed ?

I have the same exact issues,  in fact it barely vacuums, only goes to little dirt piles and skips the whole floor at times.
Not to mention I already need to replace the brushes as well as filter and barely used it. Having serious regrets :(
