When you add curtains to a map, the robot seems to ignore some sensor inputs in order to clean the area. This can be problematic if the robot gets out of position in this mode.
We have a sofa that the robot can clean under, but the sofa has some small threads dangling from the fabric underneath that seem to confuse the robot and prevent it from cleaning the entire area. So, I had the idea to add some "curtains" to the area under the couch to force the robot to ignore the dangling threads. I don't recommend doing this. The robot got out of position while under the couch and got so confused that it ruined my map and went bouncing around the house. It couldn't even find home base when I took manual control and enabled the Lidar. I had to manually put it back in the dock and decided to reset the map.
After this experience, I am not going to try and get creative with Curtain Mode anymore and probably won't use it. I'll just open my curtains on cleaning day every once in a while. I don't want to risk the robot getting that confused again and falling down the stairs if someone leaves the downstairs door open.
