Mop Pads out of place

Every time my device goes back into the home it removes the mop pads. When it starts the next cleaning, it doesn’t put the mop pads back on. Then I get the warning “mop pads out of place” and the device won’t go back into its home or start the cleaning task. How do I keep this from happening?
