L40 Ultra bad rug mapping

Is this normal? We just upgraded to this vacuum from a $220 roborock vacuum and that vacuum did a very organized grid pattern throughout the rug... this? This is ridiculous... can I expect an update to fix this, is my vacuum defective, or is this just how dreame does it for circular rugs? Ive had many runs but I always made excuses for it (for example cats being in the way) but this time everything was out of the way and I did a 3x deep clean and this was the map after ($200 roborock did a clean grid pattern for comparison) ive tried it in every mode with no obstacles whatsoever in the way and its always been a tangled mess of a pattern with entire spots left untouched

Yes this is the way it navigates. If you watch Vacuum Wars review on this particular robot on YouTube, he notes that this is how it does it's navigation. I don't really see an issue as long as it's reaching each area. This is far superior to the robovac

How is it superior in any way - by not cleaning diry spots? The dirtiest spots were either hardly touched or left completely untouched while the clean spots it went overkill on

you can add carpets to the map, so it'll know to handle them differently. try explicitly adding them.

Thats whats currently shown in the screenshots. You can see that I added them manually
