Is the L40 Ultra supposed to auto refill water during cleaning?

When I do the vac & mop over a large area, I notice that eventually the mop is no longer putting out water because I assume the internal water tank is empty. It will just keep cleaning like normal, but I would have assumed it would go back to the station to automatically refill more water. Is this expected?
