[X40 ultra] X40

Hello. My X40 Ultra is having mop pad issues similar to the ones listed on the forum. In the middle of mopping, the robot will state that the mop pads have fallen off and to replace them before continuing. However, the mop pads are really still on, there are no nearby obtacles, and simply hitting the continue button on the app will continue the mopping. Until the next incident.

At other times, the robot will not recognize that the mop pads are on the base (even though they are). Attempts to install the mop pads manually may seem to work but the robot then physically drops the pads. At other times, a manual mop pad install will result in an endless loop of "mop pad installed, mop pad removed".

These symptoms appeared about two months ago, then seemed to resolve themselves after I had cleaned the spindles holding the mop pads to the robot and performing a hard reset.

This time, I have also done a reset, cleaned the spindles, replaced the mop pads with new ones, and swapped right and left mop pads. I've also confirmed the other troubleshooting steps: check the washboard is properly installed, checked the magnets for proper magnetism or rust, and confirmed the use of genuine mop pads, all to no avail.

Do you have any other troubleshooting steps I might try or suggestions?

Update, 1 day later. Robot behaviour is now normal: mops identified, installed, and not dropped. Will report back when the issue returns.

Dirty Birdy, I didn't fix it... it got better after a day's rest (!) Hard reset is under the cover (where you access the dirt box).

How did you fix it? How do you do a hard reset?

X40 here. Just got it. Does it take a white to map out your house so it will clean all the floor and not just spots? Right now it cleans some of the floor but not all.

A better option is to use Quick Mapping (5-10 minutes) at initial setup.

Update. About once per week: robot claims that mops are dropped. Clean out the mop spindles on the robot and let the robot "rest" overnight. Install mop pads manually. Robot then behaves normally for another week. Almost like it needs a day off!
