Does anyone else's robot never "connect"

Whenever my robot is on or off, charging or not, I can never get it to connect to my phone. Every once in awhile it will do it, but normally I just have to manually have to turn it on from the machine itself to start cleaning. It would be nice to turn it on before I get home so I don't have to step over it. Are there any tips anyone has to be able to activate it from my phone? It does a fair job cleaning and what not it just the connectivity that always sucks
