Water tank pump corroded, and oxidized

After the first mopping, I noticed some rust (oxidation) in the pump chamber of my systems water tank. After about 3 weeks, the pump stopped working and is now completely corroded. It appears the internal pump chamber is also filled with rusty water even after emptying the tank. Therefore the walls within the water tank must have an internal leak. This appears to be a manufacturing defect.
