We hear you — a chaotic cleaning route can be frustrating. Here's why it happens and how to troubleshoot it.
For first-time mapping: The robot is exploring your home to build a map. To cover more ground, it may take a winding route. This is normal — once the map is saved, subsequent cleanings will become more efficient and organized.
If the route confusion happens during daily use, try these steps:
a. Preparation before cleaning – Pick up loose items like toys, cables, slippers, or any clutter. Fewer obstacles mean fewer collisions and less disruption to the cleaning path.
b. Check the drive wheels – Make sure there's no debris, dirt, or grease stuck on the wheels. This can affect movement and lead to abnormal routing.
c. Understand collision behavior – Frequent collisions may cause the robot to briefly follow the edge, then resume a bow‑shaped cleaning pattern. This is the robot recalibrating its route to clean more efficiently.
d. If confusion happens often – Update the robot's firmware to the latest version. If that doesn't help, try resetting the map and letting the robot remap the space. This often improves navigation accuracy.
If none of the above resolves the issue: Please record a video showing the abnormal route behavior, and share your uid (dreame app id) with our technical team. We'll analyze it further and assist you accordingly.
