New - Carpet detection

I just bought my first mop Robot.  I did the mapping and it completely ignored my door mats and living room area carpet.  How do you get the map to find them so they won't be mopped?

Also when it mopped my kitchen it left a coffee spill behind after two mopping runs.  

Is there anything I can change to make it perform better?
