Friday Night Funkin' ( fnf ) may look simple, but the difficulty spikes in later weeks and certain mods can be intense. Whether you are aiming to beat M.I.L.F on Hard or tackling high-speed custom mods, here are some essential tips to improve your gameplay: 1. Optimize Your Keybinds
The default arrow keys are rarely the best way to play. Using one hand for four keys often leads to "ghosting" (keys not registering) or cramped fingers. Most pro players use two-handed layouts:
DFJK: (D and F for Left/Down, J and K for Up/Right).
ASKL: A similar layout to DFJK, depending on your keyboard comfort.
Spread (A, S, Up Arrow, Right Arrow): This allows you to use your left hand for the first two notes and your right hand for the last two.
2. Use "Downscroll" if Needed
Check the "Options" or "Preferences" menu. Many players find it easier to process information when the notes move from the top to the bottom (Downscroll), similar to Guitar Hero or StepMania. 3. Master the "Ghost Tapping" Setting
In newer versions of FNF (and most mods), there is a setting called Ghost Tapping.
Off: You lose health/score if you press a key when there is no note.
On: You only get penalized if you miss a note that was supposed to be hit.
Tip: Turning this On is great for beginners so you don't accidentally "die" by panic-pressing keys during fast sections.
4. Focus on the "Judgment Line"
Instead of looking at the notes as they appear at the bottom of the screen, keep your eyes focused near the static arrows at the top (the receptors). 5. Learn "Jackhammers" and "Streams"
Jackhammers: These are the same notes repeated rapidly (e.g., Up, Up, Up). Don't try to "vibrate" your finger; instead, try a light, rhythmic tapping motion.
Streams: These are long sequences of different notes. Don't panic! Try to hear the melody of the song; usually, the notes follow the vocals exactly. If you can hum the tune, you can hit the notes.
6. Practice with "Input Offset"
If you feel like you are hitting the notes perfectly but the game says "Late" or "Early," your audio might be out of sync with your monitor.
